I have been interested in aviation .....
“Vic Flintham’s ‘Truculent Tribes’ ....... is essential reading for all those interested in the history of the Royal Air Force.”
Welcome to my website
My website is aimed at anyone with an interest in aviation, although the emphasis is military. It contains features that I hope will be of wide appeal. Included are illustrated articles, tables, photographs, a note of my books and, in case it is of interest, my biography.

Why produce a website?
There were three primary reasons for preparing this website. First, I had some material that did not lend itself to journal articles but which I thought was worth sharing. Second, over the years I have been fortunate to visit many air displays and museums and like to share photographs. Third, I usually have a book on the go and am always on the lookout for relevant photographs.
I always welcome assistance with my latest research and need fresh, previously unpublished photos for future books. I also have an extensive photographic collection and for a modest fee can help with pictures for books, television and other media.
I have an extensive library and a wide range of contacts, so if you have a question do ask me and I will do my best to find an answer.
HELP, PLEASE
I have three books presently awaiting publication by Fonthill. The first, Air War Over Greece 1940–1950: British, Dominions and United States Air Arms, will be published at the end of January 2026. The remaining volumes, due out later in 2026, are a two-part work on the RAF between the two World Wars. Royal Air Force Operations 1919-1929: How the RAF Secured its Independence and Royal Air Force Operations 1930-1939: How the RAF Developed to Prepare for War.
I am presently working on a detailed account of British air arms in 1953, when in terms of manpower they were at post-war peak. Much happened in that year including the Coronation reviews at Odiham and Spithead, the great floods in East Anglia, halting of the war in Korea, testing of the British atom bomb and more. If you have photographs of aircraft in service at that time please contact me directly or through the contact page.
Enjoy!
